Our Vision
IBCD's vision is simple and dynamic. We believe that biblical teaching about God, man, our problems and their solutions is the only adequate foundation for truly Christian counseling. The Bible is not something we tack onto a counseling system that has its roots in other schools of thought. God's Word is more than a comforting afterthought in a counseling session! Our goal is to teach and practice a counseling methodology that grows out of biblical principles of problem-solving and personal change.
Whether you are a Christian pastor, counselor, teacher, hot-line worker, mother, personnel manager or physician, if you are in contact with needy people and are looking for ways to help them, we believe that you need a firm grasp of the Scripture more than anything else. God's word is both profound and practical. It is able to open our understanding to the deepest needs of the human heart and to direct our steps out of the darkness of sin, pain, and loss to the light of a Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered life.
We are surrounded today with problems that seem hopelessly complex: drug and alcohol addiction, homosexuality, depression, divorce and marital conflict, eating abuse, domestic violence and child abuse. But God's Word gives us the right to offer hope to people in rebellion and overwhelmed by their situations. Counseling that is consistently biblical can cut through the tangled mass of symptoms to the core issues of the soul. It can then deal with sinful, destructive thoughts, habits and behavior with faith and hope that rest on a new foundation.
