Liberal Theology
Subtopics
Theological liberalism is the attempt to adapt religious ideas to modern culture and ways of thinking while simultaneously rejecting any conviction that God has revealed Himself to human beings in time through scripture with any kind of reliability or accuracy.
"Having rejected the true God, liberalism then proceeds to construct its own god, a golden calf which is designed to make visible, understandable and acceptable God who is invisible and, to sinful man, incomprehensible. The golden calf was to suit the needs of men and to satisfy their craving for a God that they could see. They were not satisfied with the glorious but inscrutable God of the Exodus! The golden calf was an accommodation to the sinful nature of man, as Aaron said later to Moses by way of feeble excuse: ‘Do not be angry, my lord. You know how prone these people are to evil.’" - Reg Burrows
What is liberation theology? It is the eschatology of all political and social utopianisms - immanentizations of heaven on earth - an over-realized postmillennial eschatology brought about by the social and political efforts of man.
