Terry Virgo

Saved in the 50s during the days of Billy Graham's greatest impact on Britain, Terry tried as an outsider to find his way into the evangelical church. Having no religious background he came into a foreign culture and worked hard at trying to learn the rules. The breakout of the charismatic movement of the 60s came to his rescue, introducing him to a new dimension of spiritual experience.
But he needed more than a personal experience. He needed to become deeply involved in a community of faith and friendship where God could be known and enjoyed without unnecessary religious trappings. He also needed a vision that would captivate him and consume his desires and energies. And so began Terry's journey to follow Christ wherever he led him, even on paths few have taken before. The fruit of his journey has been the formation of a new stream of churches worldwide, known today as Newfrontiers.

Upon completing three years at London Bible College, Terry married Wendy in August 1968 and they set up their home in Seaford, East Sussex, where Terry had been invited to lead a new Evangelical Free Church, where he remained for eleven years before moving along the Sussex coast to Brighton and Hove in 1979 where they still live. They have five grown up children.
Terry is based at Church of Christ the King, Brighton, UK and is the founder of Newfrontiers, a worldwide family of churches together on a mission to establish the kingdom of God by restoring the church, making disciples, training leaders and planting churches. He and his team serve nearly 500 churches worldwide. A well-known Bible teacher, Terry speaks at conferences internationally and hosts the annual Together on a Mission conference in the UK, which draws thousands of delegates from around the world. Terry has written several books, including No Well-Worn Paths , which is his biography and the story of Newfrontiers.
