The Faithfulness of God

"The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it." - 1 Thessalonians 5:24

"...if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself." - 2 Timothy 2:13

"Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands." - Deut 7:9

"God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." - 1 Cor 1:9

God's faithfulness and covenant love are closely related (Deuteronomy 7:9, 9:4-6 ; Psalm 25:10 ; 85:10 ).

“[The] faithfulness of God is of the utmost practical significance to the people of God.  It is the ground of their confidence, the foundation of their hope, and the cause of their rejoicing.  It saves them from the despair to which their own unfaithfulness might easily lead, gives them courage to carry on in spite of their failures, and fills their hearts with joyful anticipations, even when they are deeply conscious of the fact that they have forfeited all the blessings of God”
(Berkhof, Systematic Theology, II.71).
